Dolphin Utopia (January 21- February 27, 2015)

From January 21 to February 27, HKDCS is collaborating with students of Communication and Public Relations from Community College of City University to organize Dolphin Utopia. Dolphin Utopia includes a serious of events: Campus booth, film sharing and a 4-Panel Drawing Contest. Please click here to check out the album of 4-Panel Drawing Contest winning entries.

Educational Exhibit at APM Shopping Mall (August 1-14, 2011)

During August 1-14, 2011, HKDCS collaborated with apm shopping mall to organize an educational exhibit to showcase some skeleton and skulls of whales and dolphins and display panels with information on local cetaceans.  Please click here to check out the event pics!

Diving and Resort Travel Expo Exhibition (July 8-10, 2011)

During July 8-10, 2011, HKDCS was provided several booths by the Diving and Resort Travel Expo organizer to raise public awareness on conseravation issues of local dolphins and porpoises.  Please visit this Facebook page to view the pictures taken during the show!

Third Runway Proposal and Chinese White Dolphins (June-September, 2011)

HKDCS organized a press conference on June 7, 2011 to provide an update on the latest status of the Chinese white dolphins in Hong Kong, the serious impacts on the dolphins resulted from increased amount of vessel traffic, and how the proposed third runway by the Airport Authority will affect the dolphins in a long run.  Click here to read the press release.

In addition, HKDCS joined a number of green groups to release a joint statement, to express our grave concerns.  HKDCS also contributed a position paper to Legislative Council on this topic, and please click here to download this document.

Bird and Wetland Fun Fair at Hong Kong Wetland Park (November 6-7, 2010)

In November 6-7, 2010, HKDCS was invited to participate the Bird and Wetland Fun Fair at Hong Kong Wetland Park by hosting a booth to educate the visitors on local dolphin conservation. HKDCS also provided a talk on the Sunday afternoon of November 7th with the topic on how dolphin conservation is related to wetland conservation.

Save Japan Dolphin Day – Peaceful Protest (October 14, 2010)

Our society participated in this peaceful protest at the Japanese Consulate-General in order to stop the annual Japan dolphin drive hunt.  Click here to learn more details.

Dolphin Research Trip (October 10, 2010)

The last dolphin research trip was successfully held on October 10th, and despite the poor weather conditions we managed to observe two groups of dolphins within the Sha Chau and Lung Kwu Chau Marine Park.  Click here to learn more details.

Public Seminar (October 9, 2010)

HKDCS held a public seminar at Sha Tin Public Library on October 9th.  Our Society’s Chairman, Dr. Samuel Hung, shared topics on past occurrences of whales and dolphins in Hong Kong, and updates on conservation effort on Chinese white dolphins.  The participants were engaged in the discussion afterward and it was a great educational opportunity for everyone.  Click here to learn more details.
