Hong Kong Dolphin Conservation Society (HKDCS) is currently looking for a full-time project officer (12-month contract position). Established in 2003 as a charitable organization, HKDCS is dedicated to the conservation of dolphins, porpoises and whales of Hong Kong, by conducting research on Chinese white dolphins and finless porpoises in Hong Kong and nearby region, and raising public awareness of the local cetaceans.

Job duties

  • to coordinate outreach education programmes including day camps, screenings, talks, exhibitions, beach clean ups and dolphin watching trips
  • to prepare proposals and reports in relation to administrative and financial matters
  • to produceeducational and publicity materials
  • to promote and publicize cetacean conservation through website and social media
  • to supervise part time staff and volunteers
  • to perform other ad hoc duties as assigned

Entry Requirements

  • Strong interest in conservation of whales, dolphins and porpoises
  • University graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology or related disciplines
  • At least two yearsof working experience, preferably in environmental education and event coordination
  • Good command of spoken and written English and Chineseincluding Mandarin
  • Responsible, detail-minded and able to work independently. Possess good skills in communication
  • Able to work comfortably in outdoor environment (especially at sea)
  • Graphic design skill will be an advantage
  • 40 working hours per week (working at weekends and public holidays occasionally)
